A wormhole is a solution of the Einstein field equations having a non-trivial structure linking separate points in spacetime, much like a tunnel with two ends, each at separate points in spacetime.
A wormhole may connect extremely long distances such as a billion light years or more; short distances such as a few meters; different universes; and/or different points in time.
‘Ouroboros/Wormhole‘ is a deliberate attempt to subvert the natural course of information through electrical signals. Fans and tube TVs connected to a video mixer switcher have their video signal into a feedback system, generating endless colors and shapes in the TV’s. During the performance, Electrical inputs are activated and will suffer breaks and will have their signals intentionally lost in transit.
The fans turn in an ‘ouroboros’ infinite movement, and into its ‘screens’, antique footage is projected.
The footage collected show how Humanity have tried to surpass the limitation of time and space : by creating ways of moving faster and faster creating the wheel (ouroboros) and then trains, cars, planes, motorcycles etc etc.
We create two images during the performance : one is the human relation to time and space and the other is pure energy, which surpass time and space.
This piece was commissioned for the ‘ON_OFF’ Festival at Itaú Cultural.
