'ashamed'

“ashamed” is a multimedia installation in homage to all women who suffer because they feel ashamed of having been raped, of menstruating, of having had an abortion, of giving birth — and, therefore, because they are afraid and ashamed of their own blood. The work also suggests the female body as a piece of hanging flesh, and the blood in the background also represents the blood of all women who lost their lives simply for being women.

The action consists of: standing naked in front of a very cold fan for ten minutes. The documentation of this action is projected onto a white fabric. In front of the fabric is the fan (here representing the oppressor), and what stops the fabric from flying is earth and blood — symbolic representations of feminine strength.”
