'Empty', 2013
Is memory purely subjective? This performance is the rearrangement of slides on a slide projector. For 3 months I bought old family slides through a used-picture sales website (ebay.com). I collected memories of families I had never met before. I began to rearrange these memories into narratives, overlapping some slides and also leaving many others empty, blank. Also exploring the sound of the slide projector as an activator and evoker of memories, projecting only light is also part of this provocation. Among so many blank spaces, some collages are made during the performance, rearranging memories that belonged to some and belong to everyone; evoking memories of those who watch, and my own; in an investigation of how memories are just a rearrangement of facts. The Performance includes a microphone amplifying the sound of the slide projector, to a speaker.
