'homage to Beuys (polarities),' 2016

“One pole is determined, while the other is indeterminate; and between them is movement, the principle of movement.” – Joseph Beuys

This work is inspired by the thoughts of Joseph Beuys and reflects on art and the process of heating in the creative sphere. It is also based on his idea that things interpenetrate each other.

As in other works, I work with the idea of layers and memory, but here there is also the act of framing nature: trying to “control” it, only to see it slip away. The movement, energy and organic relationship between my body and the leaves involve a natural and fluid interaction, where the attempt to control falls away in the face of the freedom of the element itself.

The work seeks to explore the confrontation between the human need for organization and control and the inevitable fluidity and unpredictability of nature and life. It is a reflection on the limits of attempted manipulation and the beauty of spontaneous and organic interaction.
