Ouroboros
One wormhole is a solution of Einstein's field equations that presents a non-trivial structure connecting separate points in space-time, functioning as a tunnel with two ends, each located at different points in space-time.
A wormhole can connect extremely long distances, such as billions of light years; short distances, such as a few meters; different universes; and/or distinct points in time.
'Ouroboros/Wormhole' is a deliberate attempt to subvert the natural flow of information through electrical signals. Fans and tube televisions connected to a video mixer/switcher have their signals fed into a feedback system, generating infinite colors and shapes on the TV screens. During the performance, electrical inputs are activated, suffer breakdowns and have their signals intentionally lost in transit.
The fans rotate in an infinite movement of 'ouroboros', and old footage is projected onto its “screens”.
These collected images show how Humanity has tried to overcome the limitations of time and space: creating ways to move faster and faster — from the creation of the wheel (ouroboros) to trains, cars, planes, motorcycles, etc.
During the performance, we created two images: one is the human relationship with time and space; the other is pure energy — which transcends time and space.
This work was commissioned for the ON_OFF Festival node Itau Cultural.
