'rastreando', 2016

Images from Brazil's past, from newspaper headlines, zines and magazines, are projected onto a blackboard, with an emphasis on the period of the Brazilian Civil-Military Dictatorship. The traces that are often forgotten are marked with chalk, thus creating an ephemeral image of the interpretation of the past in the 'now', creating a palimpsest.

The way this action takes place, with the erasing and erasing in front of the observer, in addition to simply staging the content, becomes a metaphor for the instability of historical memory, for evasion and forgetting.

Because it is ephemeral and can be erased later, only the photo of the final drawing remains.

Hence the aspect of projecting onto a blackboard, highlighting and revealing some parts by painting them white.
